Canvas of
life is full of colours! some bright and some gray...
There are times when I stop for a while in my journey
of life - to catch my breath when I had been running long and
hard in the race of life; to admire the beauty all around when I
have been drifting with the tide of time for a while; or just to
look back at the expense that I left behind, the long stretch of
path that I took to reach where I am now. It never ceases to
amaze me that there are so many events that are as vivid in my
memory as if they had just occurred...I go back in time and
relive them...and I am always left with a new understanding. The
canvas grows bigger as I go farther in life...more hues and
shades are added to the picture...and the earlier colours take a
new meaning as they combine with new shades to create a new
picture - richer and more vivid than earlier. Read on to embark
with me on a journey of the events in my life which, for one
reason or another or sometimes for no reason at all, always
catch my fancy when I retrospect.
This is a mini
autobiography...read at leisure...
SDA High
school...the story begins!
I still remember clearly the day we were being handed
over our grade cards in std III. I was a average student and
when the class teacher handed over my grade sheet to me, she
announced in a demeaning tone that I had been promoted to the
next higher std. I could not find anything like very poor grades
or having failed in any subject...but the class teacher had said
it and I felt humiliated. I knew that now I had to be among the
front runners in academics. Resolution of a 8 year old kid does
not materialize in a fortnight. It took three years and I felt
vindicated when in std VII I stood second in the class. There
was no turning back after that.
Even though good at academics and a favourite of teachers in
school, I was always a backbencher in the class. Always up to
some mischief, I could hardly be considered a candidate to
ensure discipline among fellow students. The day new
captain/prefects in school were being announced, I was standing
at the back of the rank assembled for the morning prayer. My
name was announced and I realized that I had been made the house
captain and a school prefect! I thought - time for a change,
mate...
Friendship with Rahul showed me that school friends are not just
the ones with whom you have good time during the school hours.
It started in std VII and soon we became close friends. Ashish
was another friend who was always with me. I was never strong
with money and I always maintained that my friends would accept
me the way I am...and it was then that I discovered that how
right I was. Friends always accept you the way you are...Vishal,
Manish, Alok all were with me...thanks guys for instilling the
confidence in myself!
